Join the ZO’s call-to-action campaign for safer roads

Richards Bay's biggest offender is Harbour Arterial between the John Ross highway and Bayside smelter.

Calling all crater crusaders! Join the Zululand Observer’s ‘The Hole Truth’ call-to-action campaign which has been steadily gaining momentum since its launch in August.

Safer roads mean safer communities and, thanks to this campaign to date, the greater Empangeni and Richards Bay areas have seen some improvements in pothole patching.

As success is seen, more crusaders jump on board and the pothole offenders’ list grows.

Kerk Street, Freesia Drive, Cedar Street, the corner of Kelly and Pretorius roads, Kelly Road, Edwin Aldrin Road, Farewell Road, Link Road and President Swart Avenue in Empangeni are fast becoming permanent fixtures on the list, while newly-added potholes are McDivitt Avenue, Frank Bull Road, Davies Crescent and Anthony Crescent.

Empangeni resident Roger Lavoipierre said Davies Crescent is riddled with potholes.

“As residents, we feel like our street is the forgotten crescent in Empangeni, we are pleading with the municipality to hear our cry.”

Meanwhile, Richards Bay’s biggest offender is Harbour Arterial between the John Ross highway and Bayside smelter.
