Body washed up on Richards Bay beach still needs identification

Do you recognise any of these tattoos?

Two weeks after anglers discovered a decomposing body at Five Mile beach in Richards Bay, the victim remains unidentified.

Neither has anyone fitting the description of the black male, aged about mid-30s, been reported as missing.

While the body was somewhat battered after apparently having drifted in the sea, there was nothing to indicate foul play, and death appears to have been caused by drowning.

Do you recognise any of these tattoos? If so, please contact Det/Sgt Biyela on 072 5224448

However, the blue jeans and light-coloured shirt he was wearing do not suggest swimming attire.

The man’s body contains a number of crudely-done tattoos, among which is the name Zethembe and a large number 63.

Do you recognise any of these tattoos? If so, please contact Det/Sgt Biyela on 072 5224448

It is possible that the man was not a resident of the area.

Anyone with information that can assist with his identification can contact Detective Sergeant Biyela on 072 5224448.
