According to the SANBS, blood stocks are at 1.8 days’ supply, whereas a five-day supply is considered adequate.

The decline in donations is attributed to the holiday closure of work places, schools and tertiary institutions.

The blood bank says O+ donors are required, as this blood type is the universal donor.

Zululanders can visit their nearest blood bank at Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre, on the lower level.
