Donations creep in for new SPCA bakkie

Get the mercury rising for Richards Bay SPCA's new inspector's vehicle by donating towards this worthy cause

Richards Bay SPCA launched an appeal, and the animal-loving community has started responding.

After their vehicle was stolen and badly damaged in an accident, the local SPCA announced that it would need R550 000 to purchase a new one.

After their R92 000 insurance payout for their old vehicle, and a R6 100 donation over Christmas, the grand total has risen to just shy of R100 000.

Hatfield Isuzu Richards Bay has come on board and generously offered to arrange at cost an entry-level, 1.9 turbo-diesel double cab bakkie with canopy, bin liner, and tow bar.

These requirements are owing to the nature of the SPCA’s work in transporting animals, navigating badly rutted rural gravel roads and pathways to reach badly injured cattle or other animals, and for towing a trailer.

Steven Whittaker from Hatfield Isuzu Richards Bay has given an estimated costing of R529 000.

With the insurance payout and the first lot of donations, the SPCA is almost one fifth of the way there.

Help the Richards Bay SPCA inspectors get back on the road in the new year by donating towards this worthy cause.

As funds come in, the bakkie fund thermometer will be updated to reflect the amount raised, and great celebrations will be had when the full amount is achieved.

Donate in your personal capacity, or urge your business to donate, and challenge others in the same industry to follow suit.

Whether individuals, businesses or corporates, the SPCA is appealing to the community’s generous nature one more time.

For donations to the value of R50 000 or above, the SPCA will display the name on the new vehicle.
