WATCH: Truck driver unharmed in nasty N2 accident

In what could have been a fatal accident, a driver of a sand-carrying truck escaped serious injury on Wednesday after his rig left the road and ploughed into nearby plantations.

The accident occurred on the N2 near Canefields and it is believed the truck experienced tyre failure, causing the driver to lose control.

The truck appeared to have been extensively damaged and, while it was initially thought that the driver had been buried beneath the mangled wreckage, he was not, and escaped with only some minor cuts.

He was treated by emergency services on scene.
