Shooting incident closes N2

Traffic came to a standstill on the N2 near Ballito earlier this morning (Monday) after a shooting incident in which one person was critically injured.

The incident occurred at about 7.30am on the southbound carriageway.

IPSS Medical Rescue responded to the emergency, which is still an active crime scene.

Motorists driving between Zululand and Durban are urged to delay travel, use an alternative route or expect major delays.

A secondary incident subsequently occurred when a female pedestrian was knocked over on the same stretch, reportedly by a motorist driving inside the yellow line.

She is in a critical condition and undergoing emergency treatment by IPSS paramedics.
