The service will include military honours

The Office of the Presidency on Tuesday announced that the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi would be honoured with a Special Official Funeral, Category 1.

The service will include elements of military honours and will take place on Saturday, 16 September in Ulundi.

People of extraordinary credentials specifically designated by the president are afforded official funerals, and Ramaphosa directed that flags would be flown at half-mast countrywide from today (Tuesday) until the evening of the day on which the funeral will take place.

Buthelezi (95) passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning, prompting the cancellation of the second leg of the annual Reed Dance in Nongoma.
