Both entrances leading to uMfolozi TVET College Richtek Campus in Arboretum were blocked early this morning (Monday) as more than 300 students took to the streets in protest over funding issues.

The City of uMhlathuze Public Safety section is aware of the developments, and SAPS Richards Bay and the Public Order Policing (POP) unit are monitoring the situation.

Contentious issues over the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) have been ongoing in recent weeks, with students from other local tertiary institutions and campuses recently staging protests in the region.
