Man assaulted at Erico Park dies

The identities of two murdered men remain unknown, one of whom was found badly assaulted at Erico Park in Empangeni, later dying in hospital.

Empangeni SAPS is now calling for anyone with information about the deceased men to contact them urgently.

King Cetshwayo Cluster police spokesperson, Captain Siyanda Shangase, said on Monday, 21 August at about 4.50pm, they found a badly assaulted African male, approximately 26 years old next to Erico Park.

“He was still alive when police arrived on the scene. An ambulance was called and he was rushed to Ngwelezane Hospital but he died shortly after his arrival,” Shangase said, adding he was wearing navy tracksuit pants, a white vest, and sandals. He is light in complexion and medium height.

He said they are also looking for the next of kin of another African male who was found dead along the P230 in the Mevamhlophe area, towards Umhlathuze Bridge, on 19 March.

“The deceased is estimated to be 30 years of age and was found wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans, and red tekkies. He is medium height,” he said.
