KwaDlangezwa electricity crisis leads to R102 closure
As of Thursday lunchtime, the road is reportedly still closed
KwaDlangezwa residents in Ward 10 under the City of uMhlathuze this morning (Thursday) blockaded the R102 between Mtunzini and Empangeni over the area’s ongoing electricity crisis.
According to Ward Councillor Mduduzi Dlamini, the community has been without an electricity supply for over five months owing to a damaged transformer.
As of Thursday lunchtime, the road is reportedly still closed.
He vowed that the community would close the road until the issue is resolved.
“We have been trying to get hold of Eskom to resolve this issue but there has been no response from their side,” said Dlamini.
