KwaMbonambi police officer robbed, abducted and killed

A massive manhunt for at least two suspects has been launched

Rallying police at the highest possible level, SAPS KZN commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has ordered the mobilisation of maximum resources and launched a massive manhunt for at least two suspects who robbed, kidnapped and killed a warrant officer in KwaMbonambi last night (Tuesday).

Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said Warrant Officer Nkosinathi Ntinga and his wife, who is a police sergeant at KwaMbonambi police station, were inside their home at Phetane reserve with a colleague, a senior administration clerk, who had paid them a visit.

“Information at police’s disposal indicates that two armed suspects barged into the house and robbed the police officers of their service pistols and cellphones, before forcing both Warrant Officer Ntinga and the clerk inside a vehicle belonging to the clerk, and drove off. The sergeant was left in the house unharmed.

Netshiunda said the clerk was found injured lying on the road, suspected to have been thrown from the moving vehicle.
The vehicle was later found abandoned near to where Ntinga’s body was located.

“Police are appealing to anyone who might have information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects, to contact the nearest police or call our crime stop number 08600 10111.

Alternatively, they can tip-off the police anonymously through the MySAPS app,” said Netshiunda.
