Manguzi man arrested for illegal hunting

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for possession of illegal firearm and ammunition, as well as for illegal hunting.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Sbusiso Mkhize said, on 26 July private field rangers found a man hunting without a permit at a nature reserve in eManguzi.

“The suspect failed to produce a hunting permit and the police were informed about this matter,” he said.

“The suspect was searched, and two homemade firearms, four live rounds of short gun and air gun pistol were found in his possession.”

He said the suspect was arrested and detained at eManguzi SAPS and was charged for possession of illegal firearm and ammunition, and illegal hunting.

“The suspect appeared before eManguzi Magistrate’s Court on 27 July. He was released on bail and the case was postponed for further investigation. He will appear at the same court on 27 October.”
