WATCH: John Ross truck accident causes diesel spillage

Three trucks and a bakkie were involved in a collision earlier today (Wednesday) on the John Ross highway just outside Empangeni.

While no injuries were reported in the accident, which occurred near the Eco Junction, it resulted in a massive diesel spillage, which sparked concerns of secondary accidents, especially in light of forecast rain.

City of uMhlathuze Fire & Rescue were promptly on scene and covered the diesel with sand to ensure the safety of other motorists.

Traffic police were also quick to respond to the scene, directing drivers around the obstruction.

The accident caused Richards Bay-bound traffic to back up while the scene was being made safe and cleared.
