The KZN Department of Transport has urged motorists to employ safe driving tactics and follow the rule of law.
This after the current severe weather, bringing heavy rainfall and snow to parts of the province, has led to numerous road closures.
While the Zululand region has not been subjected to snowfall, heavy rains have fallen, and continue to fall, over parts of the region.
Heavy, disruptive rainfall is set to continue on Monday and into Tuesday, with conditions beginning to clear on Wednesday.
Transport MEC Sipho Hlomuka said disaster management centres are on high alert.
“We appeal to road users to postpone their trips where possible, especially in areas where it is snowing,” said Hlomuka.
“We also appeal for maximum co-operation with law enforcement agencies where they warn of diversions and road closures.
“Our teams are on standby and we will respond where there is a need,” he said.
