Cross-border crime: citizens urged to work with police

Crime-related matters were discussed by all role players

Inkosi Tembe has condemned cross-border crime and the rate of murder in uMhlabuyalingana, which plague the area’s communities.

He was speaking earlier this week at an uMkhanyakude District crime imbizo in Manguzi, attended by uMkhanyakude District SAPS acting commissioner Brigadier Thango, Brigadier Mashamba, Inkosi Tembe, uMhlabuyalingana municipal officials, Izinduna, ward councillors, and spiritual leaders.

Crime-related matters were discussed by all role players.

Inkosi Tembe requested the police to strengthen their presence in dealing with crime in uMhlabuyalingana and neighbouring areas.

He urged Izinduna and the community at large to play an active role in the fight against crime, ‘because the perpetrators are within society’.

He further encouraged community members to give police any information that may assist in the fight against crime.

Brigadier Thango appreciated the community members for their attendance, and urged them to be police informers.
