Local municipalities under King Cetshwayo District participated in a bilateral engagement with an Mpumalanga-based renewable energy company earlier this month.
Led by District Mayor Thami Ntuli, the delegation was made up of leadership and top management from all four municipalities within the district.
They visited Secunda on a fact-finding mission, which included a tour of a solar energy plant, to seek alternative power solutions for the district to mitigate the current national rolling blackouts.
Load-shedding has severly impacted the district’s ability to provide a continuous supply of running water.
