Two months later and the latter still remains on various streets.

One resident, who asked to remain anonymous said, “I am disappointed at how long it is taking the municipality to clean our streets.
At the end of the day, we pay our rates! It is as simple as that.”

In response to the residents’ frustration, City of uMhlathuze communications manager Bongani Gina said, “We have started the process to remove [the green waste].

In fact, we have appointed a contractor to assist with the removal. So we are working on it and the contractor is on-site.

There are 68 streets that were affected, on which we are currently working.”
