New Hluhluwe mall to create hundreds of job opportunities

The site for this proposed mall has been earmarked

The site for a new shopping centre in Hluhluwe has been earmarked, and construction is set to create around 500 jobs for the area’s youth.

This was revealed by Big5 Hlabisa Mayor Comfort Khumalo during the 2023/24 IDP Budget Roadshow held at Inkosi Msongelwa Community Hall on Wednesday.

“The site for this proposed mall has been earmarked. We are still engaging with investors to be part of this huge project.

“Only one local businessman has shown interest in investing in this project, and our engagement is at the final stage,” explained Khumalo.

“Our main aim is to bring development closer to the people and to uplift the local economy.”

Khumalo further urged local businesses and government departments, especially those in arrears, to settle their rates accounts so his municipality could continue with service delivery and community development projects.
