Unroadworthy vehicles impounded in N2 roadblock

Five vehicles deemed unroadworthy were pulled off the road on Thursday during a roadblock on the N2 near Pongola.

The roadblock was led by Council Speaker Kwenzakakufani Nxumalo together with various law enforcement agencies.

During the operation, a foreign national was arrested for contravening the immigration act as he failed to produce a passport.

Over 250 vehicles were stopped and searched, 41 traffic fines were issued and 10 heavy-duty trucks were referred to the traffic department for roadworthiness check-ups.
