Sewage woes for irate Grantham Park residents
The flooding is often accompanied by sewage, which is a major health concern for residents
Frustrated Grantham Park residents are tired of living with their yards, and in some extreme cases their homes, being filled with sewage due to blocked pipes or heavy rain.
Heavy rains recently left a real mess for residents living alongside the greenbelt, as blocked pipes overflowed into the yards.
One affected resident, Bheki Mdlalose, said: “I have lived in Grantham Park for 20 years now and have invested so much to make this my family home, but we cannot even enjoy our yard because of the stench.
“Every time we report the issue it is as if it falls on deaf ears.
“We are pleading with uMhlathuze Municipality to have the plumbing checked. I have made many modifications to my property to try to resolve the issue, but none have helped.
“I need them to do their part because, even after the flooding, we have to arrange for our yards to be cleaned at our own cost.”
The flooding is often accompanied by sewage, which is a major health concern for residents.
The uMhlathuze Municipality is yet to respond to requests for comment.
