Catwalk dreams

YOUNG girls from Mtubatuba are looking forward to their annual modelling competition hosted by Assent Models Academy this Saturday

YOUNG girls from Mtubatuba are looking forward to their annual modelling competition hosted by Assent Models Academy this Saturday.

Academy founder, Nonhlanhla Mputhi, first noticed how the young girls in her area had dreams of one day walking the runway. In order to get the girls ready for future catwalks, she decided to start her own competition as the modelling industry is fiercely competitive.

“I saw how passionate the girls were about modelling but didn’t have the resources. So I decided to teach them. They truly enjoyed what they were doing. That is when the idea of hosting a competition was born,” said Mputhi. Local businesses Easyway Driving School and Paradiso Guest House partnered with the academy last year to make the event a success. Assent Models academy looks forward to partnering with more local businesses to help these girls make their dreams come true.

The academy is run with the help of, model, Aphiwe Ntombela. Ntombela fills the role of an assistant coach and is tasked with preparing them for this year’s annual competition.
The competition will take place on Saturday, 18 March at the Mtuba Town Hall.
