Taxi driver arrested for rape of teen

The suspect is expected to return to the Mtuba magistrate's court for a bail application on 27 February

A taxi driver has been arrested for reportedly raping a teenager and forcing her to drink brake fluid, causing her death.

Khayelihle Ntshangase (24) was arrested for the rape of Andiswa Mdletshe (17) from Nompondo, Hluhluwe on 29 January.

It’s alleged that Mdletshe boarded a taxi driven by Ntshangase after which she was raped and forced to drink brake fluid.

She is said to have reported the incident to her parents, in tears. She was suffering from extreme stomach pain, shivering, and throwing up. She died sometime later.

KZN police spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, confirmed the arrest.

The suspect is expected to return to the Mtuba magistrate’s court for a bail application on 27 February.
