Students ordered to vacate eSikhaleni TVET college amid protest

The college said protests at the campus have led to students destroying the college property

Students living at the residences at eSikhaleni’s uMfolozi TVET College have been asked to vacate later today (Wednesday) after the temporary closure of the institution owing to a violent protest.

In a communique directed to both students and staff, the college said protests at the campus have led to students destroying the college property.

The protest action also led to the non-delivery of water, which may pose a hygiene risk for students to stay in the building without proper ablution facilities.

“The campus is, therefore, temporarily closed. All students are directed to vacate the residences by 3pm today.

The college will communicate the opening date in due course,” said uMfolozi Tvet College principal Jomo Jacobs.
