Fatal head-on collision on N2 at Zinkwazi

Two vehicles involved in fatal accident on Friday morning

MOTORISTS planning on travelling on the N2 near Zinkwazi are urged to drive with caution following a head-on collision at about 7.30am today (Friday) in which one vehicle caught alight and burnt out.

Two people died, one driver and one passenger, as a result of the impact.

IPSS Medical Rescue attended the scene and performed advanced life support on one of the drivers who had suffered serious injuries and was entrapped in the vehicle.

They were extricated by the KwaDukuza Fire Department.

The second motorist succumbed to their injuries before emergency services arrived on the scene.

Once Rural Metro Fire Department had contained the blaze, a passenger was discovered in one of the vehicles and had also succumbed to their injuries.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution on the wet roads, and remember to switch on headlights, reduce speed and increase following distance.
