Robberies on the rise in Mtubatuba ahead of festive season

COMMON robberies in and around Mtubatuba town are expected to rise during the festive season.
This is according to Mtubatuba SAPS spokesperson Captain Justice Hlabisa, who said common robberies normally rise over the busy period.

“People get robbed of their belongings in town, which include cellphones. People must ensure their cars are properly locked and that they do not keep valuable items such as laptops in full view in their vehicles because this attracts criminals,” Hlabisa said.
Hlabisa urged communities to work hand in hand with community police forums and the local police in conducting patrols.
He also said communities should work together to ensure people living with albinism are protected, as well as people living with disabilities.
“We also urge people to report neighbours who fire their guns in the air and not wait until those guns have killed someone because when they report those people we check whether those firearms are legal or not, which is part of our job.
“Our job is to support communities and ensure they are protected, especially as we get into the festive season,” Hlabisa said.
