Richards Bay motorsport community drive fuels shelter feeding scheme

The R100 000 target was well exceeded

MOTOR enthusiasts put money on charity this month, raising over R120 000 for the Ark Homeless Shelter’s feeding and sanitary needs.

The Home Run 2022 charity drive, hosted by Zululand Motorsport Club on Saturday at ZCBF, saw locals come out in full support of the car show-and-shine, as well as the drive from Richards Bay to Mtunzini in support of the Meerensee shelter which was launched during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Host Gary Vandayar said it is thanks to the overwhelming support of the community that they exceeded their
R100 000 target and will be able to support the centre beyond their initial three-month commitment.

He said the funds will ensure shelter residents receive sanitary packs and groceries.
