Richards Bay exempt from load-shedding

Thunderstorm sparks city-wide power outage

THE City of uMhlathuze announced earlier today (Friday) that Richards Bay would be exempt from load-shedding over the weekend.

At the time of writing, municipal electricians had completed repairs and were in the process of restoring power to Richards Bay suburb by suburb.

The thunderstorm, which started shortly before midnight last night, caused both 132kv feeders from Impala, the main lines feeding Richards Bay, to trip.

Work to repair the lines and restore power to the city began in haste early this morning, with staggered switching on occurring from midday.
