WATER supply will be interrupted in parts of Empangeni and Richards Bay tomorrow (Wednesday) until Thursday morning as Mhlathuze Water conducts maintenance on some of its infrastructure.
The maintenance-related outage will commence at 8am on Wednesday until 8am on Thursday.

While the water utility did not specify the exact areas to be affected, it is those that are fed by the Nsezi Water Treatment Plant that will be without water over the 24-hour period.
“There will be a shutdown of the water supply system from the Nsezi Water Treatment Plant which supplies bulk water to the City of uMhlathuze and some industrial clients in Richards Bay,” said the water utility.
“Owing to the nature of the work to be undertaken, which includes repairs to an 800 diameter pipeline that supplies Empangeni, as well as the installation of new valves at the Nsezi plant, some water interruptions are anticipated.”
The utility said the maintenance would ensure ‘no major breakdowns that might lead to long-term water supply issues to occur in the future’.
