These are the best flowers to plant in spring

SPRING has sprung, but if your garden is yet to bloom, there are many beautifully colourful, indigenous flowers you can plant in the run-up to summer.
So get your gloves and shovel, and start planting.

Sweet violets
Popular in most regions around the world, violets are most loved for their year-round bloom.

Carpet geraniums
Mostly found in the western and northern regions of South Africa, these flowers bloom all year round, peaking beautifully during the summer time.

Clivias
These native flowers will make your summer garden look its best. The easy-to-grow flowers need morning and afternoon sun, and shade during the rest of the day.

Petunias
These flowers bloom from spring to autumn, meaning they will be in full bloom for your summer garden. The varying colours and species make it ideal for you to mix your favourites.

Impatiens
Popularly known as the touch-me-not, these flowers are able to grow in dark areas without direct sunlight.
