AFTER an almost two-year closure, flights in and out of Richards Bay Airport are set to resume next month.
The news was announced on Friday by SA Airlink, which said its Johannesburg-Richards Bay route would recommence on 19 September.

The resumption of flights follows the airport’s securing of the necessary resources to accommodate scheduled airline services.
The Covid-related lockdown forced the closure of the airport, but it did not reopen once restrictions were lifted.
Airlink CEO and MD Rodger Foster said Richards Bay is vital to the economies of KZN and the rest of South Africa.
He said its viability and development depend on a fully-functioning and efficient transportation system, with air connectivity playing a key role in driving business and investment.
“We are ready to welcome Richards Bay customers back on board our flights and help reignite growth and economic activity in the area,” said Foster.
