Mtubatuba public space closed for safety reasons

The open space behind Mtubatuba Library has become unsafe

THE open space behind the Mtubatuba library has been closed off to the public for security reasons.

According to Mtubatuba Municipality’s acting communications manager Khulekani Msweli, a break-in at the library two weeks ago prompted the municipality to close off the area.

Msweli said all the computers at the library were stolen in the break-in.

“When law enforcement conducted its investigations, these revealed that what makes it easy for the library to be exposed to criminal acts is people drinking in that area.

“So there were two options; either to close it off or upgrade the area to a properly regulated park.

“The first option was the easiest one since upgrading the area was not budgeted for,” said Msweli.
