Cyclist injured in taxi collision

Witnesses said the taxi reportedly swerved to avoid the bad road conditions

A CYCLIST suffered multiple injuries when a minibus taxi smashed into his bicycle in the early hours of Friday morning between Empangeni and Felixton.

The accident happened just before 8am on the R102 just past the Solid Ground Church turn-off.

Witnesses said the taxi reportedly swerved to avoid the bad road conditions, when it collided with the cyclist who as a result, sustained serious injuries.

“He has been rushed to hospital, due to the seriousness of his injuries. He had a broken arm, multiple facial injuries and some fractured ribs,” explained Joe Kruger from Mounties Ambulance.

Though no passengers were injured, the taxi was slightly damaged during the incident.
