Vehicle theft crimes continue in Richards Bay

Richards Bay Saps confirmed reports that several vehicles were stolen in and around Richards Bay last month

A SURGE in vehicle theft across the region has escalated since April, and bakkies, SUVs and light motor vehicles continue to be targeted.

Richards Bay Saps communications officer Captain Debbie Ferreira confirmed reports that several vehicles were stolen in and around Richards Bay last month, and motorists should be cautious.

A white Toyota Hilux and a red Etios were stolen in the same week from different locations in Arboretum.

With the increase in theft of vehicle cases, police urge motorists to ensure their vehicles are safely secured and to use all preventative measures, especially manually checking their vehicles are locked.

Incidents of remote jamming have also been on the rise and motorists are warned to be extra vigilant when out at public areas and shopping centers.
