Service delivery discussions were the order of the day

Traditional Affairs) and municipalities under uMkhanyakude, Zululand, and King Cetshwayo districts last Tuesday.

Speaking at Ulundi’s old legislature building, Cogta MEC Sipho Hlomuka said local government needs support to achieve the goals outlined in the Integrated Development Plan.

The improved performance of King Cetshwayo District was noted after it achieved a clean audit alongside the City of uMhlathuze, while other municipalities within this district performed well in terms of the 2020/21 audit outcomes.

Mayors and senior municipal officials were urged to improve the liquidity of their municipalities, as assessments indicated poor cash coverage.

All municipalities were urged to fill critical vacancies such as those of senior managers.
