Municipal by-election registration weekend

uMfolozi Municipality's ward 3 is one of those participating in the upcoming by-elections

Umfolozi Municipality’s ward 3 is one of four municipal by-elections to be held in August, after the post became vacant owing to the death of the councillor.

Eligible voters can register at one of the listed polling stations this weekend (18 and 19 June) between 8am and 5pm.

Registration is also an opportunity for voters to update their details.
Special voting is set to take place at both polling stations and through home visits on 2 August between 8am and 5pm.

Voters taking advantage of this weekend’s registration must take their SA ID document or a valid temporary ID certificate and provide proof of residence to complete their physical address information.

Voters can also check and update their details at their local municipal Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) office on weekdays during office hours.

The IEC warns voters that it is a criminal offence to vote in a ward in which they are not registered.
