These institutions showcased various fields of study to assist pupils in choosing a career path.

Ulundi Junior Mayor Asanda Sithole (16), a Grade 11 pupil at Mbilane High School, said that, as a junior leader, she was happy to attend the event.

‘As young people, we are excited to have a caring municipality which afforded us an opportunity to speak directly to council executives,’ said Sithole.

Ulundi Mayor Wilson Ntshangase said he appreciated the contribution made by the District Department of Education.

‘Education is our priority.

‘We always encourage matriculants to focus on their studies so they can pass matric with distinctions.

‘We encourage them to do so because tertiary institutions only admit those who have done well at school.

‘As Ulundi Municipality, we took a resolution to recognise all high schools that have achieved a 100% pass rate.

‘We reward these schools financially to encourage them to keep up the good work,’ Ntshangase said.
