A family has been left with nothing but the clothes on their backs after a fire destroyed their home.
The blaze broke out at about 4.30pm today (Friday) at the Intrepid Avenue residence in Empangeni’s Kildare suburb.

Residents were quick to evacuate the family members who could only watch their home burning as they waited for the fire brigade.
City of uMhlathuze Fire and Rescue from Richards Bay extinguished the blaze, and KZN EMS attended to the traumatised family.
