Google honours South African poet
Poet and writer Masizi Kunene's doodle is on Google’s search engine landing page
In celebration of his 92nd birthday, the late Masizi Kunene has been honoured by Google who has published a doodle on their home page, which is visible in many countries around the world.
Kunene is well celebrated for his work and contribution toward the preservation of Zulu literature.

He was an anti-apartheid activist who wrote books as a form of protest against the apartheid government.
Kunene is well recognised for his Zulu version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, called Mabatha, and he also published a host of other Zulu books.
These include Isibusiso sikamhawu (1994), Indida yamancasakazi (1995), Umzwilili wama-Afrika (1996) and Igudu likaSomcabeko (1997).
Kunene spent the latter years of his life lecturing at the University of Natal, and passed away on 11 August 2006 at the age of 76.
