Taxi commuters in KZN will have to dig deeper into their pockets from July as provincial Santaco (SA National Taxi Council) confirms the increase of fares.
This after a national conference resolution held in the North West province.

Among the reasons that exacerbated an increase, according to Santaco KZN chairperson Mduduzi Makhunga, was the frequent increase in diesel and petrol.
‘This time around, the increase will not be as per usual, but will vary from association based on their area of operation,’ said Makhunga.
‘We urge understanding from the commuters, and we know everything increases except salaries, but the situation is beyond our control,’ he said.
Makhunga elaborated that Santaco would issue dates for fare negotiations across the province where commuters will also be expected to give input.
