The Hluhluwe Stock Theft unit and game rangers recently arrested a 32-year-old man for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of game meat.
The accused, Sphamandla Mhlongo of KwaJobe in Hluhluwe, was found with the remains of a skinned crocodile, as well as the skeletal remains of various other animals.

KZN police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala said their investigations revealed the crocodile was shot and killed at the Budlwini area in Hluhluwe on Monday,
4 April.
‘During the arrest, the firearm and ammunition were seized from Mhlongo,’ said Gwala.
‘He appeared at Ubombo Magistrate’s Court and was released on R500 bail. He is due to appear at the same court on Friday,’ she said.
