WATCH: Log truck overturns on N2
Traffic police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the left lane on the northbound carriageway, which was obstructed by logs and the truck.
A truck fully laden with timber came to a halt on its side near the eSikhaleni off-ramp on the N2 in the early hours of Thursday morning, after the driver lost control.
Nobody was injured in the accident which left hundreds of logs scattered at the side of the freeway.
Traffic police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the left lane on the northbound carriageway, which was obstructed by logs and the truck.
The driver, who asked not to named, said the incident occurred at about 3am.
‘I was driving at normal speed, approaching the bridge towards eSikhaleni when I heard a loud sound from the left rear tyres.
‘The truck then swivelled, and eventually went off the road and crashed on its side,’ he said.
Traffic officers spent the rest of the morning keeping a close eye on the truck and its fallen load while alerting motorists to the obstructed lane.
