Five people were injured in a single-vehicle accident on the N2 on Thursday evening.
The crash occurred on the southbound carriageway in the vicinity of the Engen garage.
According to paramedics who attended the scene, two patients sustained critical injuries while three sustained moderate injuries.
Both KwaZulu Private Ambulance and Mounties EMS were on scene, and paramedics stabilised the injured before transporting them to hospital for further medical care.
The fast lane on the southbound carriageway was closed for some time while emergency services attended to the injured and cleared the scene of debris.
