Siphosethu Mbambo was found near Masondo Cottages in the morning

Police have taken three men into custody for questioning regarding the brutal murder of a 33-year-old man who was stoned to death and his eyes gouged out by unknown attackers in Ulundi last Sunday.

The body of Siphosethu Mbambo (33) of the Mabedlane area was found near Masondo Cottages in the morning.

Reports indicate that Mbambo worked at one of the funeral parlours in Ulundi.

A police source said preliminary investigations revealed he was renting accommodation in the area and was with three colleagues when a group of unknown men attacked them.

Zululand cluster police spokesperson Captain Nkosie Gwala said a case of murder was registered at Ulundi Saps for investigation.

She said the murder docket was transferred to the Zululand Task Unit for further investigation.
