Severe thunderstorms expected

Thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by heavy downpours, strong, damaging winds, and excessive lightning

Zululanders are urged to take caution as severe thunderstorms are expected to hit parts of the region this (Friday) afternoon and into the evening.

The SA Weather Service (SAWS) has warned that some of these thunderstorms have the potential to become severe, especially over the northern and western parts of KZN, as well as the Midlands.

‘They are expected to be accompanied by heavy downpours, strong, damaging winds, and excessive lightning.’
Areas which will be affected in the region include Hlabisa, Hluhluwe, Jozini, Nkandla, Nongoma, Mtubatuba, Mthonjaneni, Ulundi, Pongola and Umhlabuyalingana.

Motorists are urged to take caution, and avoid travelling on bridges and roads in low-lying areas as these may be susceptible to flooding.
