City of uMhlathuze partners with Richards Bay industries to launch business expo 2022

The inaugural business expo will see major industries, companies, and SMMEs displaying business opportunities available for local beneficiation

THE City of uMhlathuze and the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone have joined hands to launch the City of uMhlathuze Business Expo 2022.

The inaugural business expo will see major industries, companies, and SMMEs displaying business opportunities available for local beneficiation, and focus their attention on how to make available such opportunities to local businesses and entrepreneurs.

Awareness of employment and procurement opportunities will top the expo’s agenda, which will be held at the ZCBF premises from 16-18 February.

The establishment of formal links between the municipality, government departments, industries, and local SMMEs is a critical objective of the expo.

Patrons attending the expo will be able to interact with captains of industry, and participate in the information-sharing sessions between small, medium, and large businesses and government entities.

The hybrid expo will also see the launch of Invest in Richards Bay, an initiative by the RBIDZ aimed at heightening the area as the active industrial destination for domestic and foreign direct investments.

It will also highlight the ease of doing business in the area through the one-stop shop, with vast incentives offered to investors, as well as create a platform for networking and investment facilitation between investors and local businesses.

The two-day business expo will provide opportunities to businesses to exhibit their products and services as well as attend to plenary engagements.

Business to Business (B2B) linkage sessions will take place as side activities over the two days.

The intention is for the SMMEs to have one-on-one sessions with industry and government on matters that need focused discussion and clarification for their businesses.

The expo will bring together government officials, state-owned institutions, policymakers, investors, business executives, civil society leaders, successful entrepreneurs, academic institutions, and youth organisations to have a dialogue, share ideas on best practices on the thematic areas, and propose solutions.

The expo is targeting SMMEs, local industries, unemployed youth/graduates and artisans, with the aim of providing an opportunity for interaction with exhibitors for the exploration of business and career options, among others.

This will expose the SMME sector to networking opportunities with big businesses and industry; the intention is that this will translate into long-term business linkages and partnerships.
