10 years of memorable moments

Celebrate Wimpy Empangeni's 10th birthday with a complimentary regular filter coffee when you order the Vuka Brekkie, at R49.90

10 years of enjoying every moment

AFTER a challenging year, Wimpy Empangeni is operational and in full swing, and the team is looking forward to a prosperous new year. ‘We’re back!’ enthuses owner Ravi Singh, adding that Wimpy is bigger and better, and looking  forward to the opportunity of serving you. The restaurant has been fully renovated and sports a modern look with comfortable seating for the many hungry patrons.

Wimpy now boasts an outside seating area overlooking the car park – great for dad to sit and relax with a cold beverage. Wimpy Empangeni is a fully liquor licensed restaurant. There is also a new play area for the kids – the only restaurant in the Sanlam Centre with one. Call them to make your child’s themed birthday party booking.

‘Let us take all the mess and fuss away from you, let us do it all while you, too, join in on the fun.’

Many reasons to celebrate

Not only has the restaurant reopened with a brand new look, but it also celebrated its 10th  anniversary in November. And to top it off, Wimpy Empangeni has just been nominated as a  finalist in the category Best Place to Have Breakfast in the Best of Zululand Readers’ Choice  Awards.

‘Just to be nominated for Best of Zululand feels like we have already won,’ says an elated  restaurant manager Maureen Khumalo, ‘I appreciate our customers for choosing our restaurant,’ she says, adding that she and the staff strive to exceed expectations.

Singh says he is grateful for his customers’ loyal support, especially throughout a very difficult year.

‘First it was lockdown, and then the looting. The Empangeni restaurant was completely destroyed. But our customers returned – and this is what saved us. Thanks to the overwhelming support from our customers, Wimpy Empangeni is still standing and looking forward to a great 2022,’ Singh adds.

‘Thank you to my staff for standing by me. My staff is my biggest asset. They spend more time here than they spend at their own homes. We are one big happy family.’

Khumalo agrees, ‘We are a family – we cry, we laugh, we pray and most of all, we have fun together. It’s what it is all about. A happy family together with Wimpy’s great moments, plus the love of serving people – a great recipe for success. We love our boss because we know he loves us. He takes good care of us.’

Khumalo has been working at Wimpy for 28 years, and seen children grow up and return with their own kids. ‘I began working at Wimpy in September 1994 when my daughter was four months old. Now she has just graduated!’

Khumalo says she enjoys the customer interaction and loves meeting new people on a daily basis. But most of all, her biggest joy is seeing happy customers with satisfied tummies. That is what the Wimpy brand is all about!
