Illegal weapons seized in Nongoma

Following up on a tip-off while conducting an intelligence-driven operation last week, the Ulundi Public Order Policing (POP) unit arrested six suspects for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

The Ulundi POP unit was working in collaboration with KZN Airwing.

The suspects were arrested at their homestead in Dabhasi area, Nongoma, and were found in possession of an AK47 assault rifle and a pistol containing six rounds of ammunition.

The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistics testing to determine whether or not they have been used in any crimes.

The arrested suspects, aged between 18 and 31, will be profiled to check if they are linked to serious or violent crimes reported in Nongoma and surrounding areas.
