More disruptive rains predicted for KZN
More heavy rains are expected to hit various districts, including Zululand and uMkhanyakude
KZN Disaster Management teams are conducting mop-up operations and assessing damage caused by severe thunderstorms in various parts of the province on Wednesday.
Mandeni, Pietermaritzburg and Maphumulo were the areas most affected by the storm which caused damage to buildings and vehicles, with flooding reported in some areas.

Disaster management teams will remain on high alert as more disruptive rains are predicted for this (Thursday) afternoon going into the evening.
The inclement weather conditions are expected to affect the districts of Zululand, uThukela, uMkhanyakude, Amajuba, Harry Gwala, uMgungundlovu, Ilembe and the eThekwini metro.
‘We expect that driving conditions on our roads could deteriorate and we are therefore urging motorists and holidaymakers to be patient and drive with caution.
‘We have directed disaster management teams to monitor areas that are prone to weather-related incidents so that they can respond faster,’ said KZN Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC, Sipho Hlomuka.
‘Residents who experience any weather- related incidents can report such incidents to their respective ward councillor or their respective local or district disaster management centre.’
