Severe thunderstorms predicted for Zululand

RESIDENTS of northwestern KZN can expect severe thunderstorms between 3pm and 11pm today (Wednesday).

The thunderstorms, accompanied by heavy rain, hail, excessive lightning and strong winds, are expected to affect Ulundi, Hlabisa, uMhlathuze, uMhlabuyalingana, Jozini, Mtubatuba, Nongoma, Pongola, Mthonjaneni and Hluhluwe.

Heavy rainfall could lead to localised flooding of roads and low-lying bridges.

Residents and motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution when travelling on the roads, and to avoid any areas that are prone to flooding.
