Mbalenhle Mkhize-Mabaso has been nominated for the South African Traditional Music Awards once again

MASTER of the spoken word and two-time SATMA-award-winning poet, Mbalenhle ‘Magcwabe imbongi’ Mkhize-Mabaso, has been nominated for the South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA) once again.

The eSikhaleni poet is nominated in the Best Poet category for her poem Thando Lwethu.

‘I’m overjoyed to be nominated again after last year’s win and thank God for always shining His light on my career,’ said Magcwabe.

In 2017, she took the Best Poet award, as well as receiving the South African Volunteer Award (SAVA).

Last year she made history when she was honoured with another award for keeping the culture of poetry alive in her region.

Not only is she one of the country’s top poets, but her incredible collaborations with the like of Joyous Celebrations and The Soil sets her apart.

The creative writer has also performed with the likes of Ntando, Mxolisi Mtshali and Siyabonga Mpungose.

Her stage presence and unique poems such as Bayeke bagqoloze, Kwanele Manje and Africa Unite continue to impact readers.
